Dragonfly 22/4
The deck around the sliding seat is a bit challenging to build. Because the boat is large and not for the amateur builder it has not had a big following and therefore we sell it only on special arrangement and unfortunately without a manual.
The boat is nice to row - a good combination of tippy enough for an intermediate, yet after a few days a novice will get the hang of it. ![]() See the dragon fly at www.canadiancanoes.com - click on their custom work tab and you will see photos of the boat and the outrigger - which is the part that will be difficult to build. Ron at Canadian Canoes built two before he realized how much work it would be to make a decent how-to manual to go with the plans and with a limited market for this project he did not proceed. Having said that - if you are familiar with building canoe or a kayak you will not likely have any trouble if you want to try your hand at a new challenge. Building the shell will be similar to building the kayak. There are other rowing rigs on the market which you may be able to adapt to the Dragonfly. Some builders on our forum have completed the project and shared their methods on line on the builders forum. We have the plans available by phone - they are not on the web site - cost is $150. Price: $150.00 |
