Woodstrip Construction
Narrow strips of wood machined with a bead and cove edge, are edge glued over a building form and covered on both sides with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. The result is a high strength to weight craft which is light and strong.

Bead and Cove Strips and Options for the Canoe Builder
  • all the strips measure ¼" x 13/16" x 16' (or 17' or 18' or 20' to suit your project); all are clear, vertical grain, full length and milled so that the 7 strips from any one board are taped together exactly as they lay in the original plank; variety of colours as available in our inventory.
  • The BASIC PACKAGE of 60 strips will build most of the canoes from plans available through Bear Mountain Boat Shop.

The epoxy package includes premium quality West System® products because we know the system is reliable, as safe as possible and will do the best job in the shortest length of time.

West System Epoxy Package : One canoe or kayak
- 2 B packs 105B epoxy with special coatings hardener for a clear finish metering pumps
- Microlite fairing compound for attaching the kayak hull to deck
- Microfiber for glueing the stems
- Glue brushes
- Squeegees

Fiberglass Cloth

Specially treated to be compatible with epoxy resin our cloth is the ideal reinforcement when a clear finish is important

Our choice of weights of cloth balances the lightest weight possible without sacrificing durability or safety.

Carefully rolled to avoid creasing and prevent damage. Packaged to come off the roll in the order in which it will be used. We offer several different widths to minimize waste.
