Canoe Building DVD - In Production!
NEWS FLASH! - Our favourite canoe
builder and actor Nick Offerman has been busy with NBC's new comedy series
Parks and Recreation. Nick stars as boss Ron Swanson in this half hour mocumentary
series that looks at the exciting world of local government. Nick emailed
to let us know that a recent episode entitled "The Possum" has been partially
shot in his LA wood work shop and will show pics of his recently completed
canoe 'Huckleberry'. The episode is available online at www.nbc.com/parks-and-recreation/
. FYI - the canoe building DVD shot by Nick (see below) will be available
March 31.

Last fall
actor and woodworker NIck Offerman found himself with some time to kill
in New York City while his wife is working on Broadway, so he decided
to build a couple of canoes.
After reading Canoecraft, Nick called up to purchase some plans and before
he knew it Joan had enlisted his help to produce a canoe building video
as a companion to Canoecraft.
You can preview
the video here .
Nick (www.offermanwoodshop.com)
rounded up his buddy Jimmy Diresta (www.jimmydiresta.com)
and drove to Peterborough to pick up the building materials and work out
the details. We feel honored to have two such talented versatile artists
working with Bear Mountain. Since the canoe building and shooting has
to fit in around other work we have not set a release date for the finished
product - likely later this year.
Nick is keeping a journal while he works which we are posting here for
your enjoyment.....
