La Ruta Maya March 3 - 6th 2006 Belize, Central America
It has been five years since we built the first canoe in Belize for La
Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge. Each year we have refined the mold
at the request of the paddlers from Chaa Creek to make our boat
sleeker and faster. Last year the top paddlers in the race all agreed
that we have the best canoe for winning this grueling 4 day jungle
river race. In the 2005 race seven canoes all built from our mold
(designed by Steve Killing) took the top spots. We like it when a race
becomes a competition of paddlers rather than a competition of who
owns the best boat.
We have heard that some of the U.S. entrants will be building hulls
from Maaga Ting's lines for the 2006 Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge.
This year Ted will be offering a free boat repair service during the
race.
