Hatch and Coaming Kits
Last year while building her kayak at Chaa Creek in Belize, Joan discovered that having to use solid wood for the cockpit coaming added an extra week to her project. Many builders learn that sourcing marine plywood and getting it to the shop can be costly and awkward. Our pre-shaped hatch and coaming kits are an attractive option saving you time laminating and shaping solid pieces.

The Bear Mountain hatch package uses Ted’s nifty wooden cleats and is attractive and functional - engineered to hold the cover on with maximum downward pressure. Heavy duty, flexible double rubber gasket seals tight. The low profile fittings with smooth edges won’t snag gear.

The kit includes all cables, mounting brackets. sleeves and fittings. It does not include the footbraces which are listed separately.

Small Rudder - $179.00

Large Rudder - $209.00 (XPD and Reliance kayaks)

Rudder Mount
An alternative to drilling into the hull when attaching the rudder pin….we had these aluminum rudder mounts custom at Art’s Welding made in Belize last year when Joan and Mick were building their kayaks at the Chaa Creek wood working shop. They do require a bit of buffing but are a solid solution for mounting the rudder. Light and strong.
