Canoecraft on the Water Winner: Frazer Johnson on the Water

 

Although all the winning entries in the Canoecraft on the Water Video Contest are available now on YouTube, we wanted to take time to feature each contributor in turn. Our second place winner was Frazer Johnson of Dundas, Ontario. Apart from the clear, relaxing paddling shots, one of the reasons his submission appealed to us was his experience building both a canoe and a kayak. Having built a Prospector and an Endeavour, respectively, he's in a good position to offer comparative notes.

We were also intrigued to hear that Frazer had a longstanding Bear Mountain connection. Frazer says: "I have been building with wood for most of my life and took a keen interest in canoe and kayak construction. Back in the 80's, I attended a building workshop in Toronto that was taught by Ted himself."

For his efforts Frazer earned signed copies of all Ted’s books (Kayaks You Can Build, Kayakcraft, The Canoe, Canoecraft) plus a subscription to Canoeroots, a signed copy of Good Clean Fun by Nick Offerman, and a set of plans of his choice.
